About SASTRA

Security and Scientific Technical Research Association (SASTRA) is a Section 8, Not-for-profit Company under the Companies Act 2013, set up by Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an Institution of National Importance, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. SASTRA’s primary objective is to facilitate a quadruple engagement between academia, industry, innovators and the government for innovation, incubation and technology acceleration in the space of national security and policing. The agenda is to accelerate India towards an Atmanirbhar and AtmaSurakshit Bharat.

The emphasis of innovation process is to understand the requirements of the operational units of the forces and to create tailor-made equipment in association with the industry/innovators/MSMEs.

Overall, the process is geared to integrate component technologies onto a platform and facilitate the gradual development of the technology to meet the qualitative requirements (QRs) of the forces. The aim is to also incubate start-ups to fulfil the futuristic needs of the forces.

At the heart of SASTRA’s journey are Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel and Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh H. Wandra, two visionary leaders shaping the future of national security and defense. Their leadership transcends guiding an institution , it inspires an entire nation. With decades of experience in international law and security, Prof. Patel, Vice Chancellor of Rashtriya Raksha University and a member of India’s National Security Advisory Board, brings purpose and clarity to SASTRA’s mission. Prof. Wandra, with over 25 years in academia and administration, drives progress in technology and education, particularly in fields like AI and Wireless Communication.

Together, their leadership creates a sense of duty at SASTRA, guiding it toward a self-reliant, secure India, where innovation and progress are central to the nation’s strength. Their journey of vision, passion, and resolve inspires all within SASTRA, reminding us that great leadership carries the responsibility of shaping a better tomorrow for our nation.
